Good Tunes Tuesday: Disclosure – Omen ft. Sam Smith
An instant favorite. Another one on repeat over at our office.
After a string of ballads that helped Sam Smith secure enough awards to fill at least two bookshelves over the past year, it’s pretty fantastic to hear the British crooner getting back to the upbeat house-pop that first catapulted him into the public eye. Rather than solely sticking to the mainstream appeal, the electronic duo remained faithful to their deep house roots to create a solid record that can easily transcend itself between pop radio and underground dance clubs.
Smith reunited with electro music group Disclosure just as all of the hype and acclaim had just died down from their first collaborative effort “Latch”. Brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence formed their troupe in 2010, following the footsteps of their musically inclined parents; their mom performed as a session singer while their old man used to frequent night clubs as part of various indie rock bands.
Combine Disclosure’s captivating beats with Sam Smith’s luring voice, and you have yourself a banger that’ll have everyone’s head bobbin’. Check it out on our Spotify playlist.
